1. Purpose of the Community
This community space is designed to:
• Facilitate peer-to-peer learning and knowledge exchange among mortgage brokers and intermediaries undertaking the Certificate programme
• Enable participants to discuss course content, share insights, and ask questions related to green home finance
• Create connections between professionals working across the green mortgage sector
• Support the development of best practices in financing greener homes
All participants are expected to:
• Maintain professional conduct: Always communicate respectfully and courteously. Remember that you are engaging with fellow professionals in a learning environment associated with CPD.
• Contribute constructively: Share relevant insights, experiences, and questions that add value to discussions and support collective learning.
• Stay on topic: Keep discussions focused on green home finance, course content, and related professional topics. Use appropriate channels or spaces for different subjects.
• Respect diverse perspectives: Acknowledge that participants may have different viewpoints, experiences, and levels of expertise. Engage in discussions with openness and intellectual curiosity.
• Fact-check your contributions: When sharing data, statistics, or policy information, ensure accuracy and provide sources where possible. If you are uncertain about something, acknowledge this in your post.
• Use proper attribution: Credit others when building on their ideas or sharing external resources. Respect intellectual property.
The following are strictly prohibited within this community:
• Commercial promotion: This is not a marketing platform. Do not use the community to advertise services, solicit business, recruit clients, or promote commercial products. References to firms or products are acceptable only when relevant to substantive discussion of green finance practices.
• Harassment and discrimination: Abusive language, personal attacks, discriminatory remarks, or any form of harassment based on protected characteristics will not be tolerated.
• Misinformation: Do not knowingly share false or misleading information, particularly on matters of regulation, lending criteria, or policy.
• Confidential or sensitive information: Do not share client data, commercially sensitive information, or any content that breaches confidentiality obligations or data protection law. See Section 4 below.
• Spam and irrelevant content: Do not post repetitive content, off-topic material, or anything unrelated to the purpose of the community.
• Illegal activity: Do not share content that encourages or facilitates illegal conduct, or that violates applicable law.
Participants must adhere to the following principles to protect client confidentiality and comply with data protection obligations:
• Anonymise case studies: If discussing client scenarios or case examples, ensure all identifying information is removed. Do not share names, addresses, property details, or any data that could identify individuals.
• Respect professional obligations: You remain bound by your professional duties of confidentiality and data protection even when participating in this learning community.
• Assume public visibility: Treat all posts as potentially visible to the wider community. Do not share anything in this space that you would not be comfortable sharing in a public professional forum.
• Commercial sensitivity: Do not disclose proprietary information, internal policies, or commercially sensitive data from your organisation without appropriate authorisation.
The Green Finance Institute reserves the right to moderate content and take action in response to guideline violations. This may include:
• Removing posts or comments that breach these guidelines
• Issuing warnings to participants whose conduct is inappropriate
• Suspending or removing access to the community for serious or repeated violations
• Reporting violations to relevant professional bodies or authorities where appropriate
Moderation decisions are made at the discretion of the GFI team. If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you may request review by contacting the email address at training@gfi.green.
If you observe content or conduct that violates these guidelines, please report it promptly. You may:
• Use the platform reporting function (if available) to flag problematic posts
• Contact the team directly at training@gfi.green
All reports will be reviewed confidentially. You will not face repercussions for making good-faith reports of guideline violations.
